We are very fortunate here in Yelapa to have so many dedicated and worthwhile causes to support. I am anxious to share the amazing things going on so I decided to commit to writing a blog about each one. The first one I’ll start with is the Yelapa Animal Project (can be found on Facebook under that name)
One of the many things this small group of animal activists are doing is organizing free spay neuter clinics and the goal is to have them consistently every 4-6 weeks. Last week, thanks to Pamela the super vet, Jerry vet tech, the fabulous volunteers and to those that donated, 💗they fixed 9 animals in one clinic.
Here is a report of some other projects that have happened in the last few months…
“This was our Saturday 4 hour project. This poor guy was so matted he was almost blind from the dreds in front of his eyes. He was covered in ticks that died because they couldn’t get out of the matted hair. His nails were so long and he could not walk well because the dreds restricted his movement. I am trying to convince the owner to let me re-home him. Say a prayer for that..
Then we went to check on a puppy with the tick borne disease erlichiosis and take stitches out of a dog that Jerry sewed up after it fought with a coatimundi (you don’t want to fight with a coati).”
Through the devoted work of people like Dana, Jerry, Pamela and dozens of other volunteers, the animals in Yelapa have a chance at a better life.
Please visit the Facebook page to see the wonderful things that are happening. Donations are encouraged to continue the work of these folks.
